Subject to detailed contract negotiations and confirmation of match funding and delivery arrangements, the Mayor of London’s Regeneration Fund has allocated a total package worth £3.323m for the south of Camden Town.  This includes around £1.1m of match funding from the Council, Camden Town Unlimited (CTU) and Transport for London (TfL). London Borough of Camden and CTU worked in close partnership preparing this application.

The funding will help to transform the public realm and street environment at Cobden Junction outside of Mornington Crescent tube station, which has been a long standing ambition of ours as you may know. A new road layout will be implemented and a new civic space created, with the statute moved to a new location within the design.

Additionally, we intend to improve the southern end of the high street by managing programmes of creative and cultural activities in vacant and under-used retail assets, before attracting new quality tenants to the retail units. Lastly the funding will enable the successful Collective scheme to expand into new commercial properties and to put in place a fellowship programme for young people to access skills and employment opportunities with local businesses and occupiers of Collective.
