Urban Design proposals

Camden Town Streetscape Strategy

CTU are in the early stages of exciting design proposals to improve the quality of the streetscape in Camden Town. Focusing on Britannia Junction (Camden Town tube station) and Mornington Crescent, CTU have developed a coherent strategy to create more pedestrian space, encouraging pavement cafes and outdoor activity on Camden High Street, and new public squares at Mornington Crescent and on Parkway.

The new designs are currently with TfL to ensure they are workable in terms of traffic flow, and the final report will be published in early 2007, which will give us a document to start attracting funding for implementation.

Chalk Farm Road Improvement

LB Camden and TfL are developing urban design proposals to improve the streetscape and pedestrian experience on Chalk Farm Road. Key projects include:

  • Creating a public square at Chalk Farm Road,
  • Widening the footway and planting new trees
  • High quality street paving materials and street furniture

The proposed designs will greatly improve the quality of streetscape in Camden Town. Your feedback to these proposals will play a crucial role in their implementation, and if you have received the consultation document, please take the time to fill in the attached questionnaire.
