Camden Town First: A Streetscape Strategy

back to projects

18th January 2010

The largest and most significant project that CTU are undertaking is Camden Town First - a vision for change for Camden Town that boldy outlines a series of streetscaping idease to transform the physical environment in Camden Town while preserving the individual and unique appeal of our town centre.

The initial report was commissioned by CTU and completed by Gillespies LLP in 2007. Since then The London Borough of Camden has joined us and through their own detailed design contractors Urban Initiatives we have worked together to expand the plans to include all of Camden Town.

The first of the projects that has been put to public consultation was Camden High Street North. This is the stretch of the high street from Camden Town Tube up until Camden Lock Bridge. This went to consultation in mid 2008 and in late 2008 it was approved by the Council's Executive committee, and work should commence on delivering this, the first of the scheme, in the current financial year.

The rest of the projects have yet to go through the same detailed design process as Camden High Street North (the public consultation documents for which can be seen HERE), but some preliminary images from our plan documents can be seen below.
